Adoption is a huge, life-changing decision, and people need to know what’s involved before committing to growing their family.
Our information sessions are the best place to learn about what is involved before making the next step.
We host two online information sessions a month (one mid week and one weekend) and they last between 60 and 90 minutes.
The session is hosted via a Zoom Webinar which ensures only the Adoption in Merseyside (AiM) staff will be seen on the screen which provides a secure and safe space for guests.
The session provides a brief overview of the adoption process and an adopter will also be invited on to talk about their experience.
The first part of the presentation explains the stages to become an approved adopter; the adopter criteria, the assessment process and timescales.
It also explains the reasons why the children are currently in care and why we are looking for adopters who have loving and stable homes.
The second part of the presentation explains the support side of AiM. We have a dedicated team who support our adoptive families up until that child turn 18, sometimes older depending on that child’s needs.
From the feedback, people’s favourite part is hearing the amazing adopters. An adopter will explain their experience about how adoption has changed their life.
At the end there is a chance for guests to ask any questions into the Q&A box and our staff will answer it live.
There is absolutely no pressure to continue on after the session. This is a open session and anyone can book on, but please bare in mind we can only take people through if they live within Merseyside and around 20+ miles outside.
