Adoption in Merseyside (AiM) has reached its’ 3rd Birthday. April 2nd marks the 3 year anniversary since the four local authorities, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral councils came together to bring adoption knowledge and experience under one roof.
As a regional adoption agency, the service finds families for children in care as well as providing professional support throughout and after the adoption journey. Since merging, there has been over 250 children adopted by loving families, however they are looking to recruit more adopters to provide stables homes. The latest analysis published by the government shows that the North West has nearly 3 times as many children awaiting adoptive families as there are adopters.
Jenny Ness, Head of Service says ‘We are very happy to be celebrating our 3rd birthday, the team have come a long way and especially in the last year adapting to the changes and moving to a virtual working environment. We are still looking for adopters as recruitment remains top priority for us and we currently have over 80 children looking for homes including siblings.’
