AiM reaches its second Birthday

Adoption in Merseyside has reached its second Birthday – hooray! April 3rd 2020 marks the two-year anniversary since the four local authorities, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral councils came together to bring adoption knowledge and experience under one roof.

The regional adoption agency finds families for children in care as well as providing professional support throughout and after the adoption journey.

Since merging, AiM has placed over 180 children into loving and stable homes, however they are looking to recruit more adopters. The latest analysis published by the government shows that the North West has nearly 3 times as many children awaiting adoptive families as there are adopters.

Jenny Ness, Head of Service, said, ‘We are very happy to be celebrating our second birthday, the team have come a long way and have worked hard to provide a professional and successful service. We are still looking for adopters as recruitment remains top priority for us and we currently have over 50 children looking for homes including siblings and those with additional needs.’
